Mission statement
The Leuven Mathematical Modeling & Computational Science Centre (LMCC) combines the complimentary experience and expertise of applied mathematicians, numerical analysts, computer scientists, mathematical physicists, biologists, chemists, and engineers to build, analyze and solve mathematical models for complex problems arising from real applications in both engineering and exact sciences.
The mission of the LMCC includes:
- To conduct forefront basic and applied research in mathematical modeling, analysis, and numerical simulation of complex problems (e.g. including large-scale multi-physics approaches and multi-scale techniques);
- To provide technical leadership on high-performance computing (HPC) and mathematical modeling and practical support for the research groups of the group Science, Engineering and Technology of the K.U.Leuven and members of the “Associatie K.U.Leuven”;
- To furnish an effective interface with the academic fundamental and applied research;
- To promote virtual prototypes based on mathematical modeling, simulation and optimization techniques as valuable and efficient alternatives to building physical prototypes in research and industry.
