Given a directed graph, one can obtain algebraic structure that provides information on the graph. For many years, the concept of path algebras has been studied and a variation of this is the so-called Leavitt path algebra. This algebra has been motivated by algebras which do not satisfy the Invariant Basis Number (IBN) property. In this talk, we will see a construction of the Leavitt path algebra thru algebras which are not IBN. Furthermore, we are gonna see two monoids associating a directed graph, namely the graph and talented monoids. Both will be seen to be related to the Leavitt path algebra.
