Update: Conference Program Now Available!

The Coronal Cooling Conference, or affectionately CoCo-Con for short, aims to bring together researchers in the field of coronal condensation to discuss the swathes of recent advances and the plans for the decade ahead. The primary focus of this conference will be on the formation and development of cool plasma within the solar corona, with particular attention paid to coronal rain and solar prominences, and also their associated eruptive phenomena. Therein, we will delve into the details of topics such as MHD spectroscopy and fluid instabilities, multiphase plasma evolution, the fine-scale interplay between plasma and its bounding magnetic field, and crucially how observations, numerical modelling, and simulations can provide us with the answers that we seek.

Following the great success of the ERC PROMINENT project, we invite you to the hosting institution: the Centre for mathematical Plasma Astrophysics to be a part of what is shaping up to be a fantastic exchange of knowledge.

Solar Physics Journal Topical Issue: "Coronal Cooling: rain, prominences and eruptions"

CoCo-Con 2024 has a topical issue of the Solar Physics Journal associated with it!

If you will present as-yet-unsubmitted work at the conference, this is an ideal route for publication! Submissions are particularly encouraged from speakers and attendees, but relevant submissions from non-attendees are also warmly welcomed. Submissions should be original, unpublished science articles, not conference proceedings, and will be fully peer reviewed.

The "Coronal Cooling: rain, prominences and eruptions" issue of Solar Physics focuses on the theoretical, modelled, and observational formation and development of cool plasma within the solar corona. Particular attention is paid to coronal rain and solar prominences, and also their associated eruptive phenomena. We encourage submissions to topics such as MHD spectroscopy, fluid and magnetic instabilities, multiphase plasma evolution, and NLTE radiative transfer.
